Today we are going to talk about other beautiful green corner of Madrid and one of the main points where our bike tours take place: the Retiro Park.

This park is located just in the heart of the Spanish capital and due to its large extension (about 140ha), the best way to explore it is by bicycle, segway or any of our ecological transport. We recommend you to approach to our office of Avd / de Menéndez Pelayo 9, leave your backpack or suitcase in our lockers and start the adventure to discover all of its magical corners. Here are some curiosities of this impressive park:

This park was owned by the spanish kings, from its origins around 1630 until 1868, when it becames public domain for the enjoyment of all “madrileños”.

In 2001, the Madrid City Council drained the pond and they found inside a lot of treasures: more than a hundred chairs and tables, up to 40 sunken boats, litter bins, wooden benches and other street furniture, mobile phones, wallets, shopping carts, etc. But the most impressive thing was an old-fashioned gum vending machine and a strongbox (empty of course). The loot is not bad.

Inside the park is sited the spectacular Crystal Palace, built by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco for the Exhibition of the Philippine Islands of 1887. Place of temporary exhibitions, you can access for free and admire its dome 23 meters high. It will leave you breathless.

Madrid Urban Art VOL.1

If you are an urban art lover and you have a few hours on your stopover in Madrid, today we will reveal some more interesting street art routes in the Spanish capital:

Route 1 – Lavapiés & Tabacalera

The best way to start this route is on foot or by bicycle. We recommend that you approach our office in Avd / de Menéndez Pelayo 9, leave your backpack or suitcase in our lockers, rent one of our bikes for only € 5 / hour and go on an adventure. After a short and pleasant bike ride through the Retiro Park and leaving behind the Reina Sofía Museum, you will reach the Lavapiés neighborhood.

Once there, get lost in it’s streets and discover all the murals and paintings that this multicultural neighborhood of Madrid hides. Do not miss the cultural and art center La Tabacalera, where in addition to it’s murals and urban works of art you can see many temporary cultural exhibitions.

Today we want to give you 3 good reasons to know a little more, during your stopover in Madrid, the capital of Spain, specifically one of it’s most famous neighborhoods: Malasaña, the hipster heart of the city.

Art route in Madrid

Today we are going to talk about 3 of the most important spanish art museums, which are also located in the capital of Spain, so if you are in a layover in Madrid, art lovers, you can feel lucky.

1.- Museo del Prado

The most visited museum in Madrid, inside his walls you can find pictures of artist such as Goya, Rubens, Velázquez or el Greco. You can find this museum on the Paseo del Prado.

2.- Museo Reina Sofía

The Reina Sofía museum is located on Santa Isabel street, next to the Atocha train station and among its most famous paintings stands out the amazing Guernica of Picasso or other pictures of the best Spanish painters of the 20th century, like Dalí, Miró.

3.- Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza

Focused mainly on foreign painters from the Gothic to the fifteenth century, we find this impressive collection of the Thyssen-Bornemisza family for complete the triangle of Madrid art.
